Green Blades of Fort Wayne

About Green Blades of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne runs east until it becomes New Haven, and along that seam the yards change character block by block — city lots, then wide ones, then open field. Green Blades of Fort Wayne works both sides of that line, mowing, trimming, edging and clearing walks of clippings from the first April cut through the last one of autumn. April here is unreliable and beautiful: forty degrees at seven in the morning, sixty-eight by noon, the whole town greening up nearly overnight. Getting that first cut right sets the shape of a lawn for the entire summer, so the first pass is the one worth taking slowly. New Haven, Fort Wayne and the towns just past them.
