Mark German's Lawn Services

About Mark German's Lawn Services

Out past the edge of Monticello the land goes flat and wide, and the Meadow Lake turbines turn slow above the corn through the length of a July afternoon. Mark German's Lawn Services works in that light — long yards on county roads, grass that grows hard in the humidity and gets ahead of a person fast. The mower lays stripes that run true to the section lines, the trimmer goes around the mailbox and the light pole and the row of hostas, and the drive is cleared of cuttings before the truck pulls out. Heat, dust, the smell of fresh-cut grass: it is work you can see from the road, and the yard holds it into the evening. Mowing and trimming for Monticello and the farm towns spread across White County.
