Sharp Lawn

About Sharp Lawn

Milroy sits where Rush County flattens into black soil and long rows, the kind of country where you can watch weather come on for twenty minutes before it arrives. Sharp Lawn keeps the yards along State Road 3 and the lanes running out toward the Flatrock cut even and held to a rhythm the corn seems to keep too. There is a plain satisfaction in the edge along a farmhouse walk — one clean line between grass and gravel, kept that way all summer. Trimming around a mailbox post, a fence corner, the base of an old maple: small work that a town this size notices when it is done right. By the time the grain elevator throws its long evening shadow, the mower is loaded and the lawn looks like somebody cared.
