About R & R Services

Every weekday before the first South Shore train pulls out of Michigan City, someone has to make sure the platform, the sidewalks, and the commuter lot aren't a sheet of ice. R & R Services handles that early shift, plowing the lot and salting the walkways, clearing a path from the parking spaces to the depot doors while most of the city is still asleep. It's a small, specific kind of morning ritual — headlights on, breath visible, blade down, working against the clock of a train that won't wait. By the time riders start pulling in, the walk to the platform is clear and dry. The same crew turns around afterward and works driveways the rest of the day, block by block, until the city's dug out.
