About RAM Outdoor Services

RAM Outdoor Services runs its Marion routes the way a mail carrier runs a route — same streets, same order, storm after storm — so a driveway near the edge of town and one two blocks off the square both get done on a schedule people can set a clock by. Grant County mornings after a storm start cold and still, the kind of cold that keeps snow squeaking underfoot instead of melting, and the crew moves fast through that stillness before the day's first commute starts backing up at the stop signs. Driveways get plowed straight and square, salt laid at the mouth of each one where the county plow's windrow tends to pile up hardest. The route bends out toward the newer subdivisions on the edge of town before doubling back through the older grid downtown, covering both without favoring either. By the time Marion's morning traffic gets moving, the route sits finished, waiting for the next storm to start it again.
