Keith Sullivan Excavating grew up doing groundwork in a town that grew up on glass and auto parts, and that same steady, unhurried equipment work carries straight into a Grant County winter. The neighborhoods here run in the tight grid laid out a century ago, narrow driveways built for a different era of car, and a modern plow blade has to be handled carefully not to catch a curb that was never meant for one. Storms tend to hit Marion hardest in the evening, rolling down from the north over flat farmland, so much of this crew's work happens after dark, headlights sweeping over driveways already gone quiet for the night. By morning those same narrow drives run straight back to the garage door, edges clean, nothing clipped. It's plain work in an old plain neighborhood, done so the first car out the next day doesn't have to think twice about it.
