About Outdoor Specialists

Wind gets a straight run at Lowell across all that open Lake County farmland, and Outdoor Specialists plans its overnight routes around exactly where that wind is going to pile the snow rather than where it fell first. Commercial lots on the edge of town — the kind that need to be clear before a 6 a.m. opening — get worked through the dark hours, headlights the only light out past the last streetlamp. This is a town still close enough to its farm roots that a plow driver recognizes half the trucks parked downtown by name, and treats a business owner's lot like a neighbor's driveway. Drifts build hardest along the open stretches at the edge of the built-up part of town, where there's nothing to break the wind, and those spots get a second look after the first pass. By sunrise the lots sit scraped to the pavement, ready for whatever comes through Lowell's door first that morning.
