Shaun's Lawn Service

About Shaun's Lawn Service

In LaGrange County, a fresh snow reaches past the rooftops into the buggy lanes that run beside the county roads, the low shoulders worn smooth by years of horse traffic between farms. Shaun's Lawn Service clears driveways and lots around the courthouse square and out toward the lake country that gives this part of northeastern Indiana its name, working early enough that the first buggies of the morning still find a clear lane beside the plowed road. Oliver Lake and the smaller waters scattered through the township freeze quiet and gray under a coat of snow, framed by bare maples and fence lines. It's rural work by nature — long driveways, wide farmyards, a courthouse square that empties out by dusk — but getting it done on time means one less obstacle in a county that still runs a lot of its business by horse and wagon. By midwinter, the fields around LaGrange hold snow in long undisturbed sheets, broken only by a plow blade's tracks and the narrow furrow of a buggy wheel.
