Pearl Lawns

About Pearl Lawns

At first light in June the dew turns every lawn between Columbian Park and the Elston Grove streets a pale silver, and the whole neighborhood is quiet except for the birds and one mower. Pearl Lawns keeps that early hour on purpose — cutting before the day gets loud, edging the sidewalks so the concrete shows its true line again, trimming close around porch steps and tree rings. Lafayette grass runs hard through a wet Midwestern June, so the visits stay steady and the blades stay sharp enough to cut rather than tear. There is something worth being proud of in a yard finished by breakfast, clippings blown off the walk, the whole thing sitting clean under the morning. Through the season the feeding and weed control keep that same standard going, week over week, until the leaves ask for something different.
