About Cortez Lawn Care

Saturday morning in the Highland Park neighborhood sounds like a dozen mowers starting at once, and by noon the whole street looks combed. Cortez Lawn Care is part of that sound, running from the Teal Road side of town up through the north end with weekly mowing, trimming around trees and posts, and edging along drives and sidewalks. Sidewalk chalk, a sprinkler running two doors down, a yard cut so the lines still show at supper time: that is a Lafayette summer at its most ordinary and most likable. Every stop ends with the clippings blown off the concrete and the trailer gate shut. The street looks better for it, and so does the block.
