Richmond's Mowing

About Richmond's Mowing

The National Road comes straight through Knightstown, past the brick storefronts and the old gym, then drops toward the Big Blue River at the edge of town. Richmond's Mowing keeps the grass along that route: front yards near the square, deep back lots that slope down toward the water, and the strip between walk and street that everybody notices when it goes ragged. Summer in Henry County is thick and green and grows back fast, so the work settles into a rhythm of mowing, trimming the fence lines, edging the drive, sweeping the concrete clean. Come October the maples on the side streets let go all at once, and there is leaf work to finish before the first hard rain mats it down. A lawn cut and edged on a warm Knightstown evening holds its shape all week, and holding that shape is the whole point.
