Washington Street runs dead straight through Indianapolis as part of the old National Road, one of the first roads laid across the state long before the interstates came in, and the houses set back along its side streets still follow that same straight grid. Wild Ridge Lawn & Landscape clears the driveways and short walks off that corridor, working evening routes once rush-hour traffic along the old road has thinned out enough for a plow truck to move safely between passes. The road's straight, wide right-of-way means wind gets a long run at loose snow, pushing it back across a driveway that looked clear an hour earlier. Crews time a second pass for exactly that reason, catching what the wind put back before it has a chance to pack down overnight. Streetlights along here are old enough to cast a warmer, more orange light than the newer fixtures elsewhere in the city, and most of the later routes get finished under exactly that light.
