About Stewarts Tree Service: Est 1980

Up along the canal near Butler University, the old growth in Holcomb Gardens holds onto snow in the shade long after open lawns nearby have gone back to bare grass in a mid-winter thaw. Stewarts Tree Service works the driveways and walks in that stretch of the north side, clearing snow from under a canopy that blocks enough sun to keep the ground frozen well past a warm afternoon elsewhere in the city. The shaded blocks demand a different schedule — a driveway that melted on its own downtown might still need a plow here three days later. Trucks and shovel crews move carefully around root-heaved sidewalks and low branches, clearing what the sun won't reach on its own. It's patient work in one of the greener, more wooded corners of a city that's mostly open sky and flat lawns.
