About Ramirez Brothers Tree Services

The near eastside of Indianapolis holds some of the oldest trees in the city, and an ice storm here does something a plain snow never does — it bends whole limbs down low over the sidewalks and driveways below. Ramirez Brothers Tree Services works those streets after the ice sets, clearing snow and frozen buildup from driveways and walks while keeping an eye on the canopy overhead, since a branch holding a half-inch of ice can let go without warning. The trucks move slower through here than on newer, more open blocks, threading around low limbs and parked cars on narrow streets laid out generations ago. Once the walk is clear, the job isn't quite done — a look up, a check of what the ice has left hanging, before moving to the next block. It's careful winter work in a part of the city where the trees are as much a part of the landscape as the houses.
