About Mosier Landscape

Pogue's Run winds through Brookside Park on the east side, a small creek mostly hidden under bridges and culverts as it crosses the city, and the park built up around it holds onto its snow a little longer than the streets nearby, shaded by an older stand of trees along the creek bank. The neighborhood streets ringing the park are modest and tightly built, houses with short front yards and narrow driveways that don't take long to clear but need doing house after house, without much urgency, before the afternoon light starts to fade. By late in the day, with the sun already low over the creek and the park's paths gone quiet, the last of the morning's work is usually just touch-ups -- a drift that built up along a fence line, ice that held in one shaded corner longer than everywhere else. The creek itself rarely freezes solid, just a rim of ice along each bank with dark moving water still visible in the middle. It's a small corner of the east side, and the work there ends the same way every day -- quietly, as the light goes.
