Kapp's Green Lawn

About Kapp's Green Lawn

The Central Canal towpath greens up before anything else in the city does, and once it turns, the lawns downtown are only a week or two behind. Kapp's Green Lawn works that stretch of spring hard — feeding and treating turf so it comes in thick, mowing as the growth arrives, edging the walks back to a defined line. Around the Mile Square the yards are small and public-facing, every one of them read by people on foot, so weeds along the border matter as much as the middle of the lawn. Through summer the treatments and cuts stay on a schedule; through fall the leaves come off and the seed goes down. A dense, even lawn in the middle of a city block is a deliberate thing, built one visit at a time.
