Indy Mow Masters

About Indy Mow Masters

On the first genuinely warm Saturday of the year, garage doors go up all over Speedway and the smell of cut grass comes back to the neighborhood like news. Indy Mow Masters opens its season right about then — that first mow when the turf is thick and damp and takes some persuading, and the trail along the town's edge is suddenly full of walkers again. From there it becomes a weekly rhythm through the long Indiana green: mowing, trimming around trees and posts, edging walkways, clearing every clipping off the pavement. Spring here can swing from frost to eighty degrees inside a week, and the schedule bends to it without dropping a yard. It's ordinary work, and it lifts a whole street in a way no single house can manage alone.
