C&C renovations spends most of its year inside houses around Huntington, and when winter closes some of that work down, the crew shifts outside to keep the same neighborhoods' driveways and walks clear. These are older residential streets set back from the Little River and Wabash confluence that shaped the town, full of houses with narrow drives and detached garages that don't leave much room for a full-size plow. The crew works them by hand and small equipment as much as by truck, shoveling walks down to the concrete and clearing steps that a bigger outfit might rush past. Huntington's winters swing between hard freezes off the reservoir north of town and warmer days that turn everything to slush, so timing matters as much as effort. A driveway this crew has cleared tends to stay clear a day longer than the one next to it, simply because the ice never got a foothold.
