About Holzmeyer Lawn & Landscape, LLC

The steeple over St. John's is usually the first thing to disappear when a band of lake-effect snow swings down out of Illinois and buries Haubstadt in an afternoon. Holzmeyer Lawn & Landscape works those hours backward from dark, clearing driveways along the section roads between Haubstadt and Fort Branch while the flakes are still coming in sideways. This is Gibson County corn and soybean country, laid out in a grid the German families platted a century and a half ago, and a plowed lane here runs straight as the property line beside it. The crew salts the apron at the edge of each drive so the next morning's ice doesn't creep back in overnight. There's a particular satisfaction in a cleared driveway against a field of unbroken white — proof the work got done before anyone else was awake to see it.
