About Mendoza Lawn Care Inc.

By late July the heat sits heavy over Calumet Avenue, the pavement shimmers past noon, and the narrow parkway strips between sidewalk and curb are the greenest thing on the block. Mendoza Lawn Care Inc. works Hammond in that midsummer stretch, mowing, trimming and edging homes and storefront frontages where the grass has only a few feet to make its case. Those small strips are unforgiving — one crooked pass shows from across the street — so they get cut square and finished at the concrete. Water the town in an evening storm and everything grows again by Thursday, which is why the schedule does not slip. A block that looks cared for changes how the whole avenue feels.
