About Snow & Ice Pros Inc

Ice forms fast along the edge of Wolf Lake once the temperature drops for good, a thin skin creeping out from the shoreline while the refinery lights across the water at Whiting stay lit all through the night, and Snow & Ice Pros knows this corner of Hammond well enough to read a storm before the forecast catches up to it. This is a crew built around exactly one problem — the ice that forms under a fresh snow and turns an ordinary driveway into something genuinely dangerous by morning — and they treat every property on their route with that danger in mind, salting ahead of a freeze instead of waiting to react to one. Lake County winters here are damp in a way inland Indiana isn't, humidity off the water working its way into every crack in a driveway and freezing there overnight. A windshield left uncovered on a car parked at the curb tells you everything about what a driveway's surface is dealing with by 6 a.m. This crew has usually made its first full pass through the neighborhood before the sun's even up over the lake.
