The clearing here starts at the entrance off the county road and works its way back through each curved street, house by house, drive by drive, until every driveway in the development has a clean shot to the road. New neighborhoods like this one don't have the mature trees yet to break a wind, so the crew clears knowing the next gust might undo half of it by noon. Still, there's something satisfying about a freshly plowed cul-de-sac at first light, curved and clean as the day the street was paved.
