Fort Wayne Lawns

About Fort Wayne Lawns

They call Fort Wayne the Summit City, and in the last week of April you can see why the name still fits: from any rooftop the town is a green canopy broken only by the Lincoln Tower, every lawn beneath it waking at once. Fort Wayne Lawns took the city's name because the city is the whole territory — the near-downtown doubles, the postwar ranches, the new builds out past the interstate. The work is the full turn of the mowing year: spring green-up and first cuts, the long summer rotation of mowing, trimming, and edging, then leaf season and the final cut before the ground goes hard. A city looks like the sum of its yards, and this crew treats every one as part of the picture. Fort Wayne Lawns, for Fort Wayne lawns — it is as plain and as ambitious as that.
