Wayne's lawn care enterprise

About Wayne's lawn care enterprise

Late in August, when the cicadas run loud in the tree lines and the old tobacco barns stand gray at the edges of the hayfields, East Enterprise moves at the pace of a long, hot evening. Lawns that raced through June slow down now, but the weeds along the fence rows do not, and edges can get away from anyone. Wayne's lawn care enterprise, a fitting name in a town called East Enterprise, keeps lawns cut short and fence rows tidy through the dog days. Come sundown the result shows in the long shadows: grass cut low and level, borders crisp, the farmhouse lawn looking cool even when the air still is not. Out among these hills, that kind of order feels like a small, well-earned victory.
