Every trip in or out of Lake of the Four Seasons passes through one gate, and every winter storm makes that single point either an easy way home or the first place a day gets complicated. The crew at the Main Entrance keeps that stretch of road a priority before anything else in the community gets touched — the approach off the county road, the gatehouse apron, the turn lanes where a resident might have to stop and wait even in the middle of a squall. Ice gets treated heaviest right at the gate itself, since that's where a car slows down and loses the momentum that might otherwise carry it through a slick patch, and the shoulder areas get kept clear enough that a stopped car isn't blocking the one way in. It's a small stretch of pavement compared to the miles of road inside the community, but it's the stretch everybody uses, twice a day, no matter which lake they live near.
