About Lakes of the Four Seasons

Lake of the Four Seasons is its own small world south of Crown Point — two private lakes ringed with homes, miles of community roads that never show up on a state snowplow's list because they belong to the people who live along them. Lakes of the Four Seasons runs the winter side of keeping that world moving: the looping residential streets around both lakes get plowed on a set rotation so nobody on the far side waits all morning for a clear road, low spots near the water where cold air collects first get salted ahead of the rest, and the hills that ring the lake basin get worked carefully since ice on a curve above the water is a different problem than ice on a straight stretch inland. Winters here move differently than they do on the open Lake County flats to the north — the water itself holds a little warmth into December, then gives it up all at once — and the roads respond to that timing as much as to the sky. Every lap of the community gets driven again before dark, because a private road with no outside plow coming through means the only help those miles get is the help that already knows them.
