About David Hazen, Inc

Central Park's open lawns run right down to the White River on Carmel's east side, wide and flat enough that a snowfall there looks like it's covering twice the ground it would anywhere else in town. David Hazen, Inc. clears the driveways and walkways of the houses backed up against that floodplain, where river-bottom cold settles low and holds frost long after the rest of the neighborhood has thawed a little in the sun. Working this stretch means starting early, since those low lawns and the drives beside them ice over first and stay that way longest. The crew moves lot to lot along streets that back onto the park, clearing a straight path from garage to street before anyone's had their coffee. A driveway done right here means someone can back out onto a still-quiet street without a wheel ever touching ice, which on a river-bottom morning is no small thing.
