Steffen mowing

About Steffen mowing

Late afternoon in Bluffton, the courthouse clock tower throws its shadow long across Main Street, and the mowers are still running. Steffen mowing is a mowing outfit, plain and simple: straight passes, square corners, clippings cleared. The flat ground around Bluffton was made for stripes — a lawn here can run level all the way to the fence line, and when the light comes in low it shows every pass true or false. Steffen keeps them true. When the evening cools and the cicadas start up in the maples, the yards on the block sit even and green, waiting for supper on the porch.
