About Switzerlawn LLC

Berne keeps a small piece of Switzerland at its center — the clock tower at Muensterberg Plaza, raised in memory of the city this town borrowed its name from. Switzerlawn LLC works outward from that square through the winter, clearing driveways and walks across town while the tower clock keeps its own time overhead. The flat Adams County ground around Berne means wind carries snow sideways more than it falls straight down, drifting hard against garage doors and porch rails, and clearing that kind of snow takes more than one pass. Salt goes down on steps and walkways so the ice doesn't get the last word by morning. Plaza to side street, side street to farm lane — the route repeats for as long as a winter keeps sending snow.
