About Boots on the Ground

There is a week in March when Bedford wakes up: walkers back on the Milwaukee Trail, the first green pushing through along the old rail bed, and every lawn in town asking to be mowed. Boots on the Ground shows up for that week and every one after — mowing, string trimming, hauling off the winter's fallen branches. The work is done on foot and up close, where you can see what a yard actually needs. By the time the trail crowds thin in the evening, the day's lawns are mowed and swept.
