Shaq's Lawn Service

About Shaq's Lawn Service

In the long light after five o'clock, when the heat finally loosens its grip, this corner of Anderson smells like cut grass and warm summer air. Shaq's Lawn Service keeps yards on a steady schedule through it — mowing, string trimming the hard corners, running the edger down the concrete until the border is sharp, and hauling off clippings and leaves so nothing sits and smothers what's underneath. Some ground drains fast after a thunderstorm, which means the mower can be out the same evening the sky clears. There's a plain kind of joy in the last pass of the day, the yard squared away and the light going orange over the treeline. Neighbors around Anderson are cut on the same day each week.
