Genesee Street lights up at dusk and the old marquee throws color across the sidewalk. A few blocks back from it, the lawns go quiet under the same evening. Alberto's Landscape & Design spends its days out in those blocks, mowing, edging and cleaning up borders so Waukegan's small green rectangles look deliberate. There is design in a lawn too — the line you choose, the direction of the cut, the way a corner gets turned. They leave a yard the way a stage crew strikes a set: nothing sitting where it shouldn't.
