West of Wauconda the land opens right up, and in January the wind takes whatever snow it finds across the fields and lays it back down on Route 176 in long white bars. Countryside Industries plans around that — plowing lots and drives, clearing walkways, spreading salt where the drifts keep coming back for a second try. In the warm months those same properties get cutting, trimming and clean edging on a schedule, so the grounds stay uniform from the parking line out to the far corner. Wide-open country asks for steady work, and steady work is what it gets.
