Lincoln Land Fund Raising

About Lincoln Land Fund Raising

Late June in Virginia, the fields west of town run out to the sky and the light stays on the grass until nearly nine. Lincoln Land Fund Raising takes the mowing on that schedule — cutting, string trimming around the meter and the mailbox post, edging, and clearing the cuttings and brush a week piles up. Route 125 carries the grain trucks through town, and the yards along it wear the dust, so a freshly mown lawn there reads especially clean. The satisfaction is in the finish: the cut carried level right to the sidewalk, sharp lines at the drive, nothing shaggy left behind. Autumn turns the job to leaf cleanup, done while the air is still mild enough to work in shirtsleeves.
