One truck, two calendars. In August, Angeles Landscaping, Inc. is out under a white Vernon sky, mowing and keeping the beds honest while cicadas saw away in the elms. In January the plow goes on and the very same driveways come back around, now under six inches and a northwest wind. There is something satisfying about knowing a property in both of its faces — where the ground dips and holds water, where a drift always stacks against the garage. Plow through, walk opened, salt where the step needs it, and the front door usable before the coffee goes cold.
