About Y

There is a village in western Illinois called Tennessee, a southern name set down in the McDonough County prairie, and its lawns wake early under heavy dew. Y does lawn care here, the steady weekly kind that keeps a yard from getting ahead of its owner. A May morning is the right time to see it: wet grass shining in low sun, then a mower pass that leaves everything level and bright. Edges get attention along the sidewalk and the drive, because those lines are what the eye catches first. In a town this small, every tended yard adds to the look of the whole street.
