The Grove Firewood & Mulch

About The Grove Firewood & Mulch

December nights in Sugar Grove get so still and clear that snow squeaks underfoot and every farm light out toward Big Rock looks close enough to walk to. That's when The Grove Firewood & Mulch is out with the plow — pushing back driveways and lots, opening the walks from door to curb, treating the ice that forms where roofs drip and refreeze after dark. The work is unglamorous and exact: get the blade in close, don't clip the sod, set the pile where it won't block the view backing out. People around the village tend to notice the difference the next morning, when the drive is a rectangle of bare concrete instead of a problem. Then the wind comes up again, and it all begins over.
