About Artisan Stone Products

Downtown, the limestone around the Old State Capitol holds the cold like a held breath, and Adams Street goes to blue glass by four in the afternoon. Artisan Stone Products works the winter side of Springfield, clearing snow and treating ice on drives, walks and lots from the square out through the neighborhoods. Snow on a stone step is a small hazard with a simple cure: push it back, edge it square, keep the footing honest. Sangamon County storms have a habit of turning to freezing drizzle overnight, so this is as much about what returns at two in the morning as what fell at noon. Come daylight the walks read dark and dry, and the block goes about its business without thinking about it once.
