About Zook-it Improvements Tree Services

The South Fork of the Sangamon winds through this corner of Christian County in slow brown loops, and the sycamores that line it shed limbs the size of small trees. Zook-it Improvements Tree Services works that bottom ground and the village lots above it — removals where a trunk has rotted out at the flare, trimming to pull weight back off a roof, pruning that sets a young tree up for the next thirty winters. Autumn is the season for seeing clearly here: leaves thinning, mist standing over the old mine lakes at daybreak, deadwood showing plain against a pale sky. Storm work is its own kind of day, hauling out what a straight-line wind left behind until a driveway is a driveway again. Nothing fancy about any of it — just a place put back in order and no reminder left in the grass.
