About Walt Schmid Repair & Sales Inc.

River fog rolls across Sauget on a cold night and leaves a skin of ice on everything by morning — the lots, the aprons, the approaches out by the tracks. Walt Schmid Repair & Sales Inc. handles the snow and ice side of that: plowing, opening walkways, laying salt where the freeze bites hardest. Down here a storm often mixes, going rain to sleet to snow inside an hour, which means heading back out rather than calling it finished. Barges keep moving on the Mississippi all winter, and the work along its banks keeps moving with them. Sauget and the towns around it, whenever the pavement turns white.
