There is a half hour just after sunrise in Robinson when the ball diamonds at the town park are still empty and the grass has gone silver with dew. Parkhurst Landscape is usually moving by then — mowing yards on the north side, trimming the hard-to-reach strips along fences and around mailbox posts, edging the walks, then clearing every blade off the concrete. In this flat southeastern Illinois country a lawn is most of what a house shows the street, so the lines matter and so do the corners. Cut it right and the yard reads as cared for from a block away. That is the whole ambition, repeated week after week from April into October.
