About Pett Paving, Inc.

Out along the horse farms south of Richmond the lanes run long and straight between fence lines, and a fence line is a snow fence whether anyone meant it to be — by morning the drift has built along it, hip-deep and blue in the shadow. Pett Paving, Inc. takes on that kind of snow removal, plowing gravel and paved drives alike, breaking through the drift at the gate, and salting where the grade meets the road. Getting out of these places matters more than most; the school bus doesn't wait and neither do the animals. Piles get pushed well back rather than merely moved, because the next storm will want the same room. There is a quiet pleasure in watching headlights come down a lane at daybreak that was impassable four hours earlier.
