The Landscaping Guys

About The Landscaping Guys

Three in the morning, and the streetlights on Quincy's river hills wear halos of falling snow. The Landscaping Guys are out in it with the blade down, opening drives and lots while the town sleeps, laying salt on the walks so the first person through the door at six steps onto bare concrete. Ice counts for more than depth here — a freezing drizzle coming off the water can glaze a sloped driveway harder than eight inches ever will. The good feeling comes at the end of a lot pushed all the way to the curb line, the banks stacked where they won't drift back by noon. Winter clearing for Quincy and the towns nearby, until the streets are moving again.
