Best Kept Lawn

About Best Kept Lawn

Some Quincy mornings the fog freezes as it lands, and every rail, step and windshield in town wears a thin coat of glass. Best Kept Lawn works the winter side of the calendar in exactly that weather: drives opened, walks cleared, packed snow broken up before it can turn a front step into a slide. Cold settles down into the creek bottoms below the bluff and stays there, so whatever softens at noon is hard again by dark. The good part of the job is the quiet afterward, an empty street and a scraped drive and headlights pulling out on time. Quincy and the small towns around it share the same forecast.
