About J's Lawn Service & Snow Removal LLC

Three in the morning on a Bellwood side street is about as still as this part of Cook County ever gets: no traffic, every porch light haloed, snow falling straight down through it. J's Lawn Service & Snow Removal LLC keeps that hour as working time, moving block to block, pushing drives back to the concrete and cutting the walk clean to the steps. Nobody is awake for the doing of it, which is fine — the whole idea is that the morning simply works, that the car backs out, the sidewalk is passable, and the storm becomes a thing that happened rather than a thing to deal with. Plowing, salting and shoveling, with a return pass when the sky is not finished. Winter west of the city rewards the crews that go back out. That second trip is where the difference lives.
