John's Lawn Mowing

About John's Lawn Mowing

Saturday morning in the west suburbs has a soundtrack, and it starts around eight with the first mower on the block. John's Lawn Mowing is often that sound — deck level, lines laid straight down the front yard, the second pass overlapping the first just enough that the stripe reads clean from the sidewalk. There is no mystery to a good cut, only the discipline of doing it the same careful way every week: sharp blade, right height for the heat, trim tight to the walk, blow the clippings back onto the turf instead of into the street. By ten the yard has that combed look and the whole house sits better on its lot. Mowing, trimming, edging, and the cleanups that bookend the season. Small work, done properly, on a flat green street west of the city.
