About Dshman’s landscaping

By mid-October the parkway maples along the township's side streets let go all at once, and a lawn can disappear under them in a weekend. Dshman's landscaping likes that stretch of the year best — the raking, the piles carried to the alley, the last cut of the season taken a little lower so the turf goes into winter clean. There is a specific, ordinary joy in the moment the yard reappears from under the leaves, green and startled, with the light coming through bare branches at a low angle. The rest of the year is the steady work that earns that finish: mowing on schedule, trimming the fence line, edging where the concrete meets the grass. Small west-suburban lots, all of them visible from the street, all of them worth the same care. Then spring comes and the whole cycle starts over, which is the good news.
