Princeville sits high on the Peoria County ground where the wind gets a long run at it and the water tower shows before the town does. Perring Landscape Services Co. works both halves of the year up here, plowing and salting drives and lots through the winter, then mowing, edging and cleaning up yards once the fields go green. A lot cleared before the first car arrives and a lawn mowed before Saturday noon are really the same job: getting there ahead of people's plans. Winter storms come out of the northwest across the stubble and pile the snow exactly where it is least convenient, usually the middle of a driveway. Summer asks for the opposite talent, and the route repeats until the last mow of the season.
