Timberline Clearing

About Timberline Clearing

Winter arrives in Port Byron off the Mississippi, wide and unhurried, and by first light the river road is already wearing an inch of new white. Timberline Clearing works the hours nobody sees — plow lights sweeping the bluff drives above the water, sidewalks opened before the coffee is poured, salt laid where the wind off the channel keeps trying to glaze a walk over. Snow here is never one storm but a long conversation with the river valley, and the answer is always the same: a clean lane, a clear step, a place you can leave from. There is real satisfaction in a driveway squared off to the pavement, edges straight, the apron cut back so the town plow cannot seal anyone in again. Port Byron and the villages along Route 84 wake up to it and simply go about their day, which is exactly the point.
