Come October the grain trucks start running the county roads around Poplar Grove, and there is dust in the light from morning until the dew comes back. Trents Contracting & Lawncare finishes the season in that weather, with the last mows of the year and then the leaves off the lawns before a wet snow packs them into the turf. Earlier in the year the same yards get mowed on a weekly rotation, trimmed at the posts and swept off at the drive. Northern Illinois gives grass a long run, and the difference between a lawn that comes out of winter well and one that does not is mostly what happened in the fall. Ending a season right is its own kind of satisfaction.
